Since 2004, the carpentry trade association Schreinerhandwerk Bayern along with Georg Thalhofer OHG has awarded its prize for innovation. The prize honours excellence and craftsmanship in carpentry.
The following description of Ackermann GmbH was what convinced the jury on the topic of “Female Success Factor”:
“The average Bavarian carpentry business employs five people – mostly men. We are a company comprised of eight women. We work as managers, in controlling, in project preparation, in administration and in production. We are conscientious, well organised and determined. We calculate, draw and do accounting. We write invoices, we advise customers, we are responsible for training and hiring new employees. We build models and organise shipments. We ensure that the operation runs smoothly. Oh, and by the way: we are so good that we also employ around 100 men. They’re often on parental leave but when they’re here and follow our instructions, we know how to best put them to use. They make very important contributions and we don’t forget to compliment them for it. “
